Dollywood Employee Finds Ominous Scripture from Burned Bible
The Great Smoky Mountains have certainly been on the hearts and minds off all Americans these past few days as forest fires ravaged businesses, resorts, and homes. Yet in the midst of this turmoil, an inspiring message can be found from the singed pages of the Word of God.
Isaac McCord was assisting in the clean up throughout Dollywood and found a fragment from the Good Book which included wonderfully eerie texts from the prophet Joel.
The day of the LORD is near, the day when destruction comes from the Almighty. How terrible that day will be!
To you, LORD, I call, for fire has devoured the pastures in the wilderness and flames have burned up all the trees of the field.
Even the beasts of the field pant for you because the water brooks are dried up,
and fire has devoured the pastures of the wilderness.
Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the Lord cometh, for it is nigh at hand
Remember that there are no coincidences; nothing happens randomly on this wide created world. So finding a text from the Lord’s word wet, damaged, nearly destroyed gives great inspiration.
It brings to mind another verse from the New Testament:
We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies. For we who live are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. So death is at work in us, but life in you. (2 Corinthians 4:8-12 ESV)
As the clean up begins and those who remain pick up the pieces and move one, let’s continue to pray for them and for the Lord to use this situation to His glory and our good; to bring those to Christ who now have an open heart to hear the Gospel.
