London, KY – Noah White wore out several pairs of shoes this election cycle going door-to-door in his city with a simple goal: can I have your vote?
What makes this different than any other campaign? White is 19 years old and he got the largest number of votes of the names on the ballot.
“People would ask me, I’d knock on their door and I’d say, ‘Hey, I’m Noah White, I’m running for city council, I’d like to have your vote,’ and sometimes they’d say, ‘Aren’t you a little young to run for city council?'” White told WKYT’s Garrett Wymer. “And I’d say, ‘Well, yes, yes, I am. I’m young, but I’m working for it. I’m working hard because I want to serve you.”
White says he has wanted to get involved at the local level for several years. He says he did not expect to win – but not only did he win, he was the top vote-getter in the race.
The wonderful part about this story is Noah White’s attitude when it comes to how he views his role:
“I want to be a public servant. I think there’s a big difference between being a politician and being a public servant.”
According to a campaign video, which he produced on his own through his production company, white says, his “number one goal is to serve you, the residents of London, to the best of my ability. And to do that in a God honoring way.”
With an extremely contentious election cycyle finished, the unrest that is adjoing itself to our country, and the amount of anger that was thrown about – that is a great attitude to have and one which would be tremendous for all politicians to possess.
