New York, NY – Vice President-Elect Mike Pence attended the Broadway musical, Hamilton last Friday evening with mixed reactions from the crowd.

After the play, while the cast was taking its final bow Brandon Victor Dixon took the opportunity to maximize his time with his special visitor.

He addressed Mr. Pence respectfully, saying to the audience, “there’s nothing to boo, ladies and gentlemen.  There’s nothing to boo.”

Dixon continues, in part:

“Vice President-Elect Trump, we welcome you and we truly thank you for joining us here at Hamilton: An American Musical.  We really do.

We, sir, are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us: our planet, our children, our parents or defen us and uphold our alienable rights, sir.”

President-Elect Trump addressed the cast of Hamilton with several Tweets:

Eventually calling for them to apologize:

The one which caused great alarm was Trump’s desire to create another “safe space” for people:

Where is the outrage from the right?  Where are the concerns for our free speech?  President-Elect Trump is pushing and control over the media which should have the folks on the talk radio, media, and podcasting circuit up in arms.  Any Constitution-loving American should be upset.

Free speech is exactly that – free.  Creating “Free Speech Zone” or “Safe Places” to coddle those with hurt feelings is at the very core of what we have been fighting – and are fighting – right now regarding the control of the media and our words.

Mr. Dixon and I more than likely disagree on a number of things – but those of us who care about our free speech may be in the very same group of people he references who have fears of what is to come.
